Marek is a Los Angeles based photographer and live action director whose atmospheric work blends fine art and commercial sensibilities, often incorporating seamlessly integrated photo-real computer generated elements.

Marek absorbed a great deal of visually stimulating imagery as a child, growing up in the lush parks and sandy shoreline of a picturesque Toronto neighborhood that's simply called The Beach. He began working with nascent computer graphics technology while in high school. After attending McGill University to obtain degree in architecture, he decided to focus exclusively on creating images with computers, quickly becoming a prominent talent in the emerging visual effects industry. Being an early adopter of CGI technology, it was crucial for Marek to study photography to be able to create photo-real images using every trick available within the sometimes experimental software. His experience and complete fascination with his work propelled Marek into high-level advertising work. In particular, he has helped major automotive advertising clients bring some unique concepts to screen, intersecting technical and creative aspects to create compelling, memorable and award winning ads.

His CG driven advertising work has given him a unique perspective on the art of photography: “I leaned into photography having learned how to work with lights, cameras and lenses as represented in computer software. It’s a much, much slower and deliberate process than even the most carefully controlled photo shoot. While there's a great deal of similar skills at play, nothing beats the spontaneity that happens when I'm holding a camera”

Marek lives in Pacific Palisades, California with his wife and creative partner, Emily and their daughter Ava.
